2018 - A Year of change

January 01, 2018

Like most people its likely you have taken a break from your 2017 health and fitness routine and focused more on enjoying the break. Alas 2017 has gone and the post New Year’s Eve celebration hangover has kicked in - so what to do for 2018?

One of the hardest things is to get back into the swing of fitness and healthy eating if you have put it on the back burner for the last 2 weeks.

So what are some things you can do?

Start off where you finished but at about 70%, so if you were hitting the gym 5 times a week in 2017, try 3 times a week for the first 2 weeks in 2018.

Try a group fitness class if you are a gym bunny, take a friend, partner or one of your children if they are old enough.

Prepare yourself for the first day back at work by adjusting your sleep patterns to your normal work hours. Sleep is as important as working out yet most of us don’t get enough of sleep or exercise.

Revisit your nutritional habits and see what easy changes you could make, is it as simple as not upsizing on fast food, making better choices on what you eat, eating more nutrient dense whole food and less processed food.

Finally if you felt you plateaued in 2017 it  might be time to get some extra help, whether that’s a personal trainer, new programme or some nutritional coaching they can all help you achieve your 2018 resolution past the 15th January.
