Lee Jones has been in the Business of Fitness industry for over 25 years. Initially working in the UK as an educator at a large Sixth Form College in Southampton, he delivered Exercise and Fitness courses to young adults who were undertaking further study after leaving mainstream education.
Around 2000 he made the move to New Zealand where he taught at a couple of Colleges in East Auckland. After a year or so of teaching he was approached to set up and operate a new school / community recreation centre in East Auckland.
In that time he has been consulted by numerous schools and Council organisations on effective Community partnerships in the recreation sector. Currently Lee acts as an independent adviser to a number of private and public organisations.
Alongside the operation of the centre Lee was also active in delivering Bootcamps, Small Group Training (SGT) and Personal Training (PT) as a freelance instructor. During these sessions Lee worked with a wide range of people from the local community through to time constrained executives of large corporations.
Delivering challenging, progressive, effective and fun sessions has been the corner stone of his philosophy. Whether you’re just starting out or have been active for years; Lee will work with you to achieve your health and fitness goal.
As a Senior Assessor with Skills Active (the industry training organisation or ITO), Lee acts as a mentor and assessor to those entering the fitness profession. This role is to ensure that those individuals who are trained in the work place are assessed to the right level and qualified to become registered exercise professionals (REPs).
More recently Lee is working with the Open Polytechnic to provide their students enrolled on a Level 4 Personal Trainer qualification with a working gym and mentor support.
Not only has Lee helped the trainers and assessors of tomorrow, Lee has maintained his own education by attending industry conferences in Australia and New Zealand. Alongside these annual events Lee has undertaken Postgraduate Study in Business Administration and Advanced Level study in Clinical Exercise Physiology.
Qualifications, combined with experience and up to date knowledge means you will be in safe hands with the Business of Fitness.
Lee Jones is a great personal trainer - very professional, knowledgeable and with an appropriately dark sense of humour when putting you through your paces
Having recently emigrated from the UK I wanted to maintain my fitness level so I joined a local community recreation centre in East Auckland where I became a regular attendee at Lee's Boot-camp sessions. His approach was very professional and knowledgeable, concentrating on general fitness in a serious but fun atmosphere. Each session was structured differently to give a full body workout but in an enjoyable fashion.
After nearly a 20 year layoff, my wife also wanted to return to keep-fit. Following an interview, Lee formulated a personalised training programme allowing her to build up her fitness level in a structured manner whilst taking into consideration her limitations
When Lee says ‘I have fun things in store for you today,’ what he really means is I’m going to see how close I can take you to death and back. Every night before a training session my prayers would end with a plea that Lee take it easy on me followed by dreams of me begging Lee to stop making me do burpees. It began to occur to me that that there was a problem brewing when I started making a voodoo doll of Lee, but it wasn’t until I started using it after the 5th session with him that it really didn’t work because he could still walk. So I decided to address the real issue. I was fat, lazy and inconsistent and all he was trying to do was to help me be fit, active and consistent
